The conversation centered on a phenomenon Ahmadi Cohen and her team have been researching and documenting through first-party client work: the growing gap between what digital advertising dashboards report and what is actually happening to a business. She outlined three structural forces driving the problem — deteriorating audience match rates, degraded targeting signal following Apple's iOS 14 update and expanding state-level privacy legislation, and unchecked compliance assumptions across the media supply chain.
Ahmadi Cohen also addressed the role of AI in media buying, offering a measured perspective on why agentic tools applied to low-quality data are likely to scale problems rather than solve them. The episode closed with her framework for distinguishing directional data from decision-grade data, and a practical standard for independent measurement that any brand or agency can begin applying immediately.
