Palm Desert faced a unique challenge, as the quiet neighbor to the festival-packed, party-driven Palm Springs. It was viewed as the boring ‘sibling’ with nothing to do and no story to tell.

From insight to execution, Idea Peddler led the City of Palm Desert through the development of a new identity. Informed by local listening sessions with key stakeholders and qualitative sessions in key drive markets, our strategy team gained a deeper understanding on the community’s self-perception and the visitor’s mindset. Insights gathered from this research informed our 2020 campaign development: “Find Your Happy Pace,” which consisted of CTV, display, and OOH. As the campaign continued into 2023, our team sought to create a cross-generational marketing approach that modernized traditional visitor center guidebooks. We wove their classic elements into a digital, social-first guidebook that seamlessly melded heritage with modern trends. The Palm Desert Pocket Guide - a collection of 63 custom-crafted content pieces - unveil the hidden gems and captivating experiences Palm Desert offers.
